The Wahroonga Foundation Story
Shortly after the passing of Very worshipful Bro Cec Richards on 21/12/2018 many brethren of the lodge felt that it would be appropriate to establish a Charitable Trust to award scholarships providing assistance for financially disadvantaged secondary school age students.
A Trust Deed was prepared to establish the foundation and a sum of $30,000 was provided by the lodge as a corpus fund to cover interest and administration costs so that 100% of funds raised and donated each year can be applied to the grant of scholarships up to a maximum of $2,500 per student on any grant. The Foundation expects to receive support from other Masonic Lodges and individual donors.
It encourages other individual or corporate support because the scholarships will granted to those in need of assistance and not to any Masonic connections. Although educational scholarships are granted in various forms by other organisations, the Cec Richards Memorial Scholarships are awarded to assist students who require specific financial assistance with educational requirements.
